This is a silver gelatin photograph, printed in my darkroom on @ilfordphoto fibre paper. I was so thrilled to successfully capture this sea turtle on 35mm film —with an almost 50 year old— Nikon Nikonos III 😍📷

‘Secret Hatchet in Colorado’ is a hand-inked and pulled photopolymer gravure print. This is the last print available of the small edition of 3 (the plate was very difficult to work with). Inked print is 10”x13.5” and it’s matted, framed (16x20”), and ready to hang!

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the opening events this past week— It was great having so many conversations about analogue photography and printmaking processes. 2024 was a fun year sharing knowledge with @oftenminimal in the darkroom! It was a total joy to mentor Lexi in silver gelatin printing @snapgallery 🎞️ She is a fabulous storyteller, naturally connecting with those around her via camera or words. I’m proud of Lexi’s work and the opportunities she had to show it 👏🏽

👉🏽@dvo.jpeg stopped by @snapgallery for a demo of photopolymer gravure, on the same night as an artist talk/show opening (and prob heard more than he ever thought possible on all the different methods of printmaking) 🤣
I also got to learn about the Pentax 17 half frame 35mm camera he had (it’s soooo light!!!) 📷 Also was pretty stoked that he caught some action shots on film. Thanks @dvo.jpeg 🎉

Had the pleasure of visiting @downtowncameraltd a couple months ago when we were in Toronto 📸
Had a great chat with the staff there, stocked up on their great selection of film, and found a few secondhand old lens cases that have been serving me well.
Still working through the rolls of film I shot in TO (and obviously 2024 latergrams) because, WOW the last few months have been amazing and chock full! Need to wrap up and get ready for some big things in 2025 🎉

FUN FACT🐠 I cannot tell you how amazing/utterly complicated it is to focus on moving fish -while you are moving- with manual focusing ring based on estimated distance and no light meter. What a worthy challenge!

The framed version of this is sold (thank you!) but there is an unframed print available, supporting Edmonton’s wonderful printshop @snapgallery
