Welcome

My name is Meghan. I’m a Canadian artist, working in photographic printmaking (silver gelatin, cyanotype, and photopolymer gravure process) and encaustic photography/painting. I like observing nature and our perception of reality, and explore this through collisions of lens-based imagery and abstraction.

Worked with lively colours on my latest photopolym Worked with lively colours on my latest photopolymer gravure, for SNAP’s Member Print Exchange 👀Can’t wait to see all the other prints that this group of talented local printmakers has created for @snapgallery ⏩After the prints are exchanged amongst artists, there will be *one* of each print for public sale… so keep your eyes on SNAP’s social media to snag one for your collection!

🌿The theme was Growth and printing in a bright colour gradient was a diversion from my typical monochromatic. Fun fact- I have a secret love of colour mixing from all the painting classes and hair colour formulations I did in my past life as a hairstylist. It was SO satisfying (albeit in a tedious way) to mix up these hues in etching ink.

We started with the basics of this historic process and then spent the next day exploring hands-on toning techniques with everything from wine tannins, coffee, tea, tannic acid and other solutions. Thanks to everyone who signed up and took part in these workshops- It was great to see your creativity in action and introduce some new ideas for your creative practice!

Shout out to excellent TAs: @amyleighmakesthings @ithabeya 👏🏽

The mountains are my favourite place to decompress The mountains are my favourite place to decompress, and last weekend’s adventure up Opal Peak was just what I needed. Brought along the Pentax Espio 90MC with some BW 35mm film again. It’s much lighter than my other film setups and perfect for traveling light or when covering 1000m+ elevation gains. Can’t wait to see how the rolls turn out 🎞️
