My name is Meghan. I’m a Canadian artist, working in photographic printmaking (silver gelatin, cyanotype, and photopolymer gravure process) and encaustic photography/painting. I am curious about our perception of reality, and explore this through collisions of abstraction and lens-based imagery.

Sometimes I follow good advice from @stephenwreakes and walk around Toronto with 35mm 📸

Troubleshooting some disastrous results on a recently exposed Toyobo KM43GS plate. The KM73 from the same order seems to be performing well, so I’m thinking the plate itself is the culprit. Heat/age? So many variables in this process. And to add injury to insult, the abnormally-mushy-polymer-coated plate was still sharp enough to cut my finger 🙈 Ahhh printmaking, you are such a great lesson in problem-solving😂

Been an extraordinarily busy summer this year! But it’s been great to feel healthy, maximize time in nature, push comfort zones and bag some peaks. As objectives get more serious, I haven’t been taking my heavier camera gear up (because photography comes second to safety in the mountains). BUT… I am pumped for some rolls of 35mm I shot on recent mountain adventures, including Walter Feuz/Little Odaray earlier this month. Looking forward to developing the film and getting back into printmaking as the season changes 🎞️

Special thanks to @onestepbeyond_ca for this surprise in the mail ❤️ I am beyond grateful for the kindness of friends and family, especially during such a rocky start to 2024. In the midst of some rogue health stuff (everything is better now, knock on wood) I celebrated a milestone bday. I received many interesting memories and kind wishes, and I’m still reflecting on how lucky I am to have so many great folks in my life. I’ll get back to sharing more of my creative work again soon, but here’s my sincere gratitude post in the meantime🌳

Thank you @thehandmagazine for including ‘For Recovery’ in issue 43. 🙏🏽 I’m late to post between some mail issue and being out of town… but stoked to finally have this wonderful edition in my hands as spring arrives up here 🙌🏽

As Seities closes with their final edition, I am grateful to be included in 2022-24 ‘Dreams’ publication 🙏🏽
There are so many great artists featured in Seities’ publications… I recommend checking out the last of their analogue photography magazines before they are sold out forever.
I owe a big thanks to @seities for analogue inspiration over the years. 10 years ago, when I was plugging away in my darkroom alone trying to put my ideas on paper, Seities opened my eyes to the experimental analogue printing taking place around the world. The work they published fueled my curiosity and pushed me to try new things. I have always been proud to talk about this high quality, beautifully curated publication that was created in my home province.
Congratulations @seities on the years of hard work creating such interesting publications and connecting the analogue community over the past 12 years! All the best in the projects ahead as they unfold.

‘For Recovery’ is an intaglio print made with the sentiment of hope. I’m moved by the positive response it’s received, both at SNAP’s most recent member show/sale and through its inclusion in The Hand Magazine issue 43. 🙏🏽
