My name is Meghan. I’m a Canadian artist, working in encaustic painting and photographic printmaking (silver gelatin, cyanotype, and photopolymer gravure process). I am curious about our perception of reality, and explore this through collisions of photography and painting.
In the darkroom, I manipulate film photography in the printing process, with suspended mediums and chemical painting. In the light, I work with encaustic (beeswax and damar resin) combined with photographic elements to create unique, tactile images. This reflects our path in life, navigating between predictable structure and interruptions; we have ability to manipulate our circumstances to an extent, but we’re unable to replicate a moment once it has passed.
