My name is Meghan. I’m a Canadian artist, working primarily with handmade silver gelatin photographic prints.
I am driven by curiosity, especially for our perceived intersections of reality and the hypothetical.
This leads my work to a space where photography and painting meet. I search for a connection with each medium, inviting the other complement or contradict. I manipulate film photography exposures, during and after the printing process, with suspended mediums and chemical painting. These methods result in unique, fluid images which cannot be identically duplicated.
This approach reflects the paths we take in life, navigating between predictable structure and whims or interruptions. We have the ability to manipulate our circumstances to some extent, but we’re unable to perfectly replicate a moment once it has passed.
