Cyanotype

Cyanotype is a traditional chemical process, using ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide to create photographic prints. Invented in 1842, this process was used to reproduce botanical and textile specimens in some of the earliest photographically-illustrated books. The print is made through chemical reaction with UV light, resulting in a blue monochromatic image which can be toned for additional hues.
