I submitted ‘Pivot’, an encaustic cyanotype to the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove for the 2021 Open Art Competition for the first time. I’m humbled and proud to receive an Honourable Mention Award in the Intermediate Category!
This piece has taken me so many hours to accomplish- physically, chemically, and creatively. It’s hard to capture the magic of this piece in photos as it’s encaustic (beeswax, tree resin, pigment) interlaced with a cyanotype chemistry-based print I made by hand. It has texture details that change depending on the light/angle. If you’re able to see it in person, please take a look!
It’s showing at Spruce Grove Art Gallery until Sept 24th with a lot of beautiful work by local artists.
‘Pivot’ can also be purchased through the gallery 💙
